Make sure each phone has all location services turned ON, including GPS and WiFi. Ensure you set location services to high accuracy to do so follow these steps:
- • Open your device's Settings app.
• Tap Security & location and then Location.
• Tap Advanced and then Google Location Accuracy.
• Note: If you don’t see "Advanced" or if you see "Mode,"
• Turn Improve Location Accuracy on or off.
For older versions of android Tap Mode. Then pick
- High accuracy: Use GPS, Wi-Fi, mobile networks, and sensors to get the most accurate location. Use Google Location Services to help estimate your device's location faster and more accurately.
- Battery saving: Use sources that use less battery, like Wi-Fi and mobile networks. Use Google Location Services to help estimate your device's location faster and more accurately.
- Device only: Use only GPS. Don’t use Google Location Services to provide location information. This can estimate your device's location more slowly and use more battery.
Using WiFi helps improve accuracy of your location, even if you are not actively connected to a WiFi network. Your device uses the WiFi sensor to detect nearby WiFi base stations and narrow your exact location based on that information.
With WiFi on your device it can quickly locate you within the bounds of a building, but with WiFi off, your location accuracy can be off by more than a kilometer, as your device needs to rely on less precise location inputs (e.g., the location of cell phone towers).
Accuracy depends on many factors, such as your environment and your phone. At times, a highly accurate location won’t be available as some areas might have very poor signal or no signal at all.
Having the app open on your phone improves your location accuracy; when the GuardWatch app is running in the background, location accuracy will not be as high.
NOTE: If your cellular provider does not support internet while on a phone call, our system will not be able to update your movement or contact you in the event you trigger an SOS on a phone call.
